Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented sheet metal designer and estimator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the CAD design of sheet metal parts utilizing Solidworks, as well as analyzing sheet metal part drawings and models to estimate laser cutting, brake press, PEM, welding, powder coating and machining, procuring all materials required for fabrication, and assisting with fabrication and assembly when needed. Candidates for this role must be able to perform these tasks without oversight or training.

Duties
- Opening and interpreting 3D models and fabrication drawings to estimate durations for all of the following in-house fabrication operations: laser cutting, brake press, PEM, welding, powder coating and machining
- Generating 3D CAD models of sheetmetal part assemblies utilizing Solidworks
- Creating fabrication drawings
- Specifying all materials, fittings and fasteners required for each design
- Procurement of all materials required to fabricate each assembly
- Support QA personnel with Quality Checking parts.
- Operate various power tools to cut, shape, and assemble materials.
- Follow all shop safety and quality standards.
- Use calipers and other measuring instruments to accurately check dimensions against drawings.
- Drive to pick up materials (compensated by the mile for personal vehicle use)
- Assist with shop cleaning and organization.
- Assist with shop fabrication and assembly tasks when needed.
- Support shop maintenance and repair tasks.
Experience
- Must have significant experience with the design and fabrication estimation of sheet metal assemblies
- Must have significant Solidworks design experience
- Must have an in-depth understanding of how to design for laser cutting, brake press, PEM and welding fabrication
- Ability to work safely around machinery and adhere to all safety guidelines in a manufacturing setting
