Pay Range: $32.00 - $52.08 per hour

The Assistant Principal (AP) expertly provides and coordinates the educational program for children in the Rush Day School (RDS), a therapeutic day school for children in grades K through 8. Assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation are all components of the curriculum. Providing special education guidance for the program as well as to the staff encompasses an essential component of the position. The Assistant Principal leads and directs teachers in concert with the Director and in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Illinois State Board of Education and Common Core Standards. The AP exemplifies the RUSH mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1.Directs the educational activities for the school including curriculum, specials, and special and family events.
2.Supervises, mentors, coaches, and evaluates the teaching staff both formally and informally.
3.Organizes and schedules annual Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Domain reviews, and Three-Year Re-evaluations in conjunction with referring school districts, parents, and staff.
4.Serves as the Chief Administrator of the Special School according to Illinois State Board of Education rules.
5.Monitors the plan, delivery and outcomes of the academic program for each student.
6.Tracks each student's IEP goals and documentation by the treatment team for progress toward each goal.
7.Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated, safe, and compassionate care for each student.
8.Recruits and retains teachers in collaboration with the administrative team.
9.Provides administrative support for problem solving clinical and managerial issues for the school. Serves as a role model to resolve interpersonal conflicts.
10.Incorporates ancillary staff into the classroom. Ensures that staff maintain ISBE credentials.
11.Collaborates with referring school district personnel for intakes, transitions, and updates on progress when the student is enrolled at RDS.

• Ability to interact with others (staff, parents, children, administrators) effectively in difficult situations. • Hold the credentials for Chief Administrator of Special School referenced in 226.800 which include: -A valid professional educator license with a general administrative, principal endorsement, or director of special education endorsement pursuant to 23 ILL. Adm. Code 25.337 or 25.365 -An endorsement or approval that is specific to at least one of the disabilities prevalent in the students served by the school, if the school serves speech and language impairment OR an endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Master's Degree
• Five plus years in special education
• Experience leading teams in school
