GL.iNet is a fast-growing global company specializing in Wi-Fi routers, IoT devices, and VPN solutions. We are expanding our U.S. engineering team and building local capabilities in firmware development, embedded systems, and product manufacturing.
This role is critical to bridging our U.S. and China engineering teams and building a robust firmware build and release infrastructure in the U.S.
What You’ll DoFirmware Build System & Infrastructure
- Build and maintain firmware compilation environments based on OpenWrt across product lines
- Develop and manage automated firmware build pipelines (CI/CD), including version control, testing, and release management
- Ensure reproducibility and consistency across multiple hardware platforms
- Maintain toolchains, SDKs, and dependencies for chip platforms (Qualcomm, MediaTek)
Development & Testing
- Collaborate with China-based firmware teams on feature development and validation
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for firmware functionality, performance, and security
- Debug and resolve firmware issues across hardware platforms
- Contribute to firmware security improvements under architecture guidance
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between U.S. and China firmware teams
- Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality across teams
- Coordinate firmware release cycles between global teams
- Translate U.S. market and compliance requirements into technical specifications
What We’re Looking ForExperience
- 5+ years of experience in embedded Linux or firmware development
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with OpenWrt or similar embedded Linux platforms (routers / gateways)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for firmware is a strong plus
- Background in networking products, wireless devices, or IoT gateways preferred
- Experience with FCC certification or wireless compliance is a plus
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in OpenWrt (build system, package management, customization)
- Solid Linux system knowledge (kernel configuration, networking stack, system services)
- Experience with cross-compilation toolchains and embedded SDK environments
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation and testing
- Understanding of Wi-Fi protocols, RF basics, and FCC Part 15 is preferred
- Familiarity with Qualcomm or MediaTek platforms is a plus
Language
- Chinese proficiency preferred
Additional Requirements
- Comfortable working across U.S. and China time zones when needed
- Willing to travel to China for collaboration if required

Compensation
Competitive salary (based on experience) + bonus + benefits
Pay: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
