Job Description
Growing engineering firm is looking for Structural Engineering Associate for a full-time position in our Renovations and Field Services Department in our Charleston, S.C. office. Preferred candidate should have experience in basic residential wood framed construction. This includes field investigative and reporting work for all aspects of residential construction including repairs, renovations, and new construction. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Starting salary is negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Perform design/engineering/calculations for residential renovation/addition projects
- Prepare/develop structural drawing/details for use in residential renovation/addition projects
- Prepare/develop structural drawing/details for use in residential structural repairs
- Documenting field conditions to be used in preparation of structural reports, calculations, and construction documents.
- Perform framing inspections to document as-built framing conditions for renovation projects
- Perform framing inspections to document compliance with sealed structural drawings
- Interact with contractors/architects/designers
Qualifications
- EIT license or ability to obtain (Preferred)
- Basic Residential Construction Experience/Knowledge (rafters, joists, headers, beams, hangers, piers, piles, columns, etc.) (Preferred)
- Site/Field Experience (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Preferred)
- Structural Design Experience/Knowledge (Preferred)
- Strong technical skills and ability to multi-task when needed
- Ability to schedule and meet or converse with customers in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and in conjunction with others
- Candidate must be physically able to enter small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces, maneuver ladders and use a stud finder.
- Candidate must have reliable transportation (valid driver’s license)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
