What To Expect
The Tesla Remanufacturing organization is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to troubleshoot, develop, and optimize equipment, fixtures, and end-of-arm tooling for remanufacturing processes. This role ensures the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of equipment used in remanufacturing. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams, manage tooling designs, train technicians, and drive initiatives to maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and manufacturing efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
Serve as the subject matter expert for equipment, troubleshooting issues related to yield, quality, downtime, and safety in remanufacturing processesManage equipment projects from concept to production, including design, validation, and ramp-up, while ensuring alignment with remanufacturing goalsDesign and upgrade tooling, fixtures, and machine stations using SolidWorks, GD&T, and FEA/CFD analyses to meet remanufacturing standardsDefine requirements for outsourced tooling, collaborate with vendors, and establish Tesla standards for remanufacturing applicationsUtilize statistical tools like Minitab/JMP for data analysis to drive process improvements and validate equipment performancePartner with Design, Operations, Safety, Quality, and Process Engineering teams to achieve remanufacturing production goalsTrain technicians on maintenance procedures and downtime recovery best practices specific to remanufacturing equipmentProactively identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency in remanufacturing workflowsWork independently in ambiguous environments, taking initiative to resolve challenges and deliver results without direct oversight
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience7+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as custom machine-building, preferably in remanufacturing or similar environmentsExpertise in SolidWorks, automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and electromechanical componentsFamiliarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing), OEE, process validation, welding, CNC, and pneumatic systemsStrong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skillsA self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and takes initiative to drive resultsPassionate about optimizing manufacturing equipment and processes, with a hands-on approach in a remanufacturing setting
