The Opportunity
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in assisting senior management in maximizing the investment performance of each asset, including evaluating and assisting in the acquisition, disposition, and potential development of assets. Additionally, this position will gain exposure to asset/portfolio management, property management, and leasing. A successful team member will feel comfortable diving into the financial details of complex real estate assets without losing sight of the big picture. An aptitude for technology and a genuine interest in using technology to improve underwriting and reporting efficiency, consistency and accuracy will be paramount. We are looking for candidates that have the capacity to work on multiple projects at once and can manage multiple deadlines that may overlap.
Key Responsibilities
Acquisition/Development/Disposition/Financing
· Assist in data collection required for acquisition financing and refinancing
· Assist in acquisition underwriting, including preparing Argus and Excel cash flow models
· Research lease and sales comparables, including use of Co-Star and discussions with brokers
· Assist in completing financing/refinancing of assets providing financial analysis and coordinating
due diligence efforts
Corporate/Portfolio Reporting
· Prepare periodic company, portfolio and asset reports
· Review monthly property financial reports for accuracy and sufficiency of information
· Review and analyze annual operating and capital budget assumptions prepared by property
managers
· Prepare periodic cash flow forecasts and valuations
Miscellaneous
· Support multiple directors with ad-hoc analysis and competing deadlines across acquisitions, asset/portfolio management, and finance
· Ability to develop excel models from scratch, such as ground-up development, mixed-use acquisitions, and distribution waterfalls
· Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate underwriting, research, reporting, and process automation
· Assist in process improvement automation initiatives in financial analysis and financial reporting
What We’re Looking For
• 2+ years of real estate financial analysis (retail real estate experience preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree (accounting or finance preferred), MBA or MSRE a plus
• Proficiency and recent working experience with Argus (required) and Yardi (preferred)
• Working knowledge and advanced use of Excel
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve analytical workflows
• Highly organized and the ability to work independently
• Ability to gather and manipulate data from various sources for use in analyses and reports
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset
• A positive team-player able to work with others to achieve results
