SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Nashville, TN in its search for an Senior Accountant. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned properties and performing full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and review of monthly financials, along with additional duties as needed.
A successful candidate for the Senior Accountant role will have strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams, and prioritize and meet deadlines, excellent time management skills, strong initiative, sound judgment, urgency, and attention to detail to drive multiple projects to completion, the ability to work under pressure with tight timeframes, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities, the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and to work independently, prioritize effectively, and seek clarification when needed.
Responsibilities:

Perform monthly full-cycle accounting for multiple multi-family properties, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and monitoring and reviewing receivables and payables

Review and maintain cash balances for assigned properties; submit funding requests and approve bill payments as needed

Ensure timely payment of real estate taxes

Partner with operations personnel and third parties to coordinate accounting duties

Assist Community Managers with invoice coding and tenant ledger reconciliations when needed

Manage fixed asset accounting functions and depreciation schedules

Support the Accounting Manager as a first-level reviewer for monthly financial packets and other reports

Assist with year-end audits and tax filings

Participate in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reporting as required
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accrual accounting, and financial reporting

Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license, a plus
- Minimum 2 – 3 years of accounting experience, required
- Yardi experience, preferred
- Public accounting experience, preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Construction or real estate experience, a plus
