Manufacturing Process Engineer
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for supporting, improving, and developing manufacturing processes within drilling, fabrication, de-tape, packaging, and related production areas. This role provides daily technical support to manufacturing teams, leads process improvement initiatives, troubleshoots complex manufacturing issues, and supports the successful transition of new products, materials, equipment, and technologies into production.
This position works closely with production, quality, engineering, maintenance, suppliers, and leadership to improve safety, quality, throughput, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProduction Support
- Provide daily technical support to manufacturing teams within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Support improvements in quality, throughput, manufacturing efficiency, and process documentation.
- Communicate process changes effectively through updated documentation, operator training, and process validation.
- Participate in daily material rejection reviews and support disposition decisions.
- Assist with supplier quality issues related to existing processes, materials, or equipment.
- Perform other process-related production support activities as assigned.
Process Development and Improvement
- Develop short- and long-term solutions for manufacturing challenges using root cause analysis and data-driven problem solving.
- Lead or support the transition of new processes, products, materials, and technologies into manufacturing.
- Select, approve, and validate new materials for use in production.
- Coordinate supplier development activities, including validation testing, specification documentation, and incoming inspection requirements.
- Manage assigned equipment, automation, and process improvement projects across manufacturing areas.
- Define and implement continuous improvement activities through process optimization, process controls, and standardization.
Capital Equipment and Automation
- Support capital equipment definition, justification, procurement, installation, and release to manufacturing.
- Manage assigned capital projects to meet expectations for cost, timeline, safety, and performance.
- Design, coordinate, or support the development of custom equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions.
- Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure successful equipment implementation.
Process Quality
- Support overall quality performance within assigned fabrication and manufacturing departments.
- Lead or participate in internal and external corrective actions as required.
- Support PPAP documentation and process-related customer requirements.
- Participate in Material Review Board activities and feasibility reviews as needed.
- Use data, testing, and structured problem-solving methods to improve process capability and reduce variation.
Safety
- Recommend improvements to safety-related operating procedures for production equipment, chemical handling, tooling, and personal protective equipment.
- Regularly review work areas, tools, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions or potential violations of safety rules.
- Evaluate processes for ergonomics, machine guarding, chemical safety, and general compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Ensure Job Hazard Analyses are reviewed and updated when process changes are made.
- Follow all company safety, security, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical manufacturing role preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, materials, equipment, and process controls.
- Experience with machining, metal fabrication, drilling, punching, coining, forming, milling, or similar production processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collect, research, and interpret data to support process improvements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, support project planning, and provide direction in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, suppliers, and leadership.
- Commitment to following safety, security, quality, and company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering degree from a four-year college or university.
- Two to four years of related manufacturing, process engineering, or technical production experience.
- Knowledge of tooling materials, tooling design, and tooling manufacturing.
- Technical knowledge of sheet, foil, coating processes, or related equipment.
- Experience conducting DOE, process experiments, root cause analysis, and process capability studies.
- CNC programming experience.
- Experience with manufacturing software, project management tools, and continuous improvement methods.
- Experience supporting PPAP, Material Review Board activities, corrective actions, and customer-specific requirements.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and related manufacturing experience may also be considered.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The employee may be required to spend time on the production floor, review equipment and processes, participate in troubleshooting activities, and work around manufacturing equipment, materials, and chemicals. The employee must be able to follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
