48North Partners is a boutique advisory firm that helps business owners navigate private equity transactions. We primarily serve private equity firms and their portfolio companies supporting investment thesis refinement, market research, acquisition target identification, and transaction execution across a range of industries.
Founded in February 2023, 48North has grown into an established buyside advisory platform with a team of 15 full-time professionals. We work alongside leading private equity investors to originate and close transactions on a consistent basis.
About the Role
48North is seeking an M&A Research Intern to join our team in Los Angeles. Reporting into our research function and collaborating closely with the deal team, this role offers hands-on exposure to private equity deal execution from day one.
You will support acquisition strategies across active client engagements: conducting industry research, building target lists, analyzing companies, and maintaining our CRM pipeline. This is a strong foundation for a career in finance, consulting, or investing.
Key Responsibilities / Task Description
- Develop target lists and market maps to support current and prospective client engagements
- Evaluate prospective acquisition targets and tier them against client-specific investment criteria
- Gather and analyze company data, including products, end markets, revenue size, and ownership structure
- Enrich and validate contact information to support outreach and pipeline development
- Maintain and update CRM systems to ensure accurate, organized, and reliable data
- Collaborate with internal deal teams on active engagements and ad hoc projects
Ideal Candidate
- Undergraduate student (Sophomore or Junior preferred) studying business, finance, economics, or a related field
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and demonstrated interest in finance or M&A
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Comfortable operating in a professional, team-based setting
