ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the development of innovative solutions across a wide range of industries. This role is ideal for early-career professionals eager to build hands-on experience in mechanical design, analysis, and product development. You will contribute to projects across the full product lifecycle while gaining exposure to systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration with electrical, software, and controls engineers. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the design and development of hardware systems from concept through prototyping, testing, and deployment
- Assist with CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and documentation
- Perform basic engineering calculations and support analysis efforts (e.g., FEA under guidance)
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to meet project requirements
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas and feedback
- Assist with prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
- Help document designs, test results, and engineering processes
- Communicate progress and status updates to team members
- Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and engineering practices
- Support manufacturing and design-for-manufacturing efforts
- Constantly strive to improve your own technical skills, company processes, and be willing to both teach and learn from your peers
- Travel when required to support hardware assembly, testing, and integration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- Exposure to CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, or similar)
- Familiarity with engineering analysis concepts (stress, thermal, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and mechanical assembly
- Demonstrated ability to use data and analysis to inform data driven decisions
- Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required to comply with ITAR regulations
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Various years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis
- Design of electromechanical systems
- Design of spaceflight hardware
- Experience at a lean engineering organization or in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints
