Overview
We are hiring an experienced Mechanical / HVAC CAD Designer & Drafter with a strong background in MEP systems, specifically HVAC. This role focuses on designing and drafting HVAC systems for high-end residential and light commercial projects, with close coordination between HVAC and plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create AutoCAD drawings for HVAC/mechanical systems (layouts, schematics, details)
- Design ductwork systems, equipment layouts, and mechanical plans
- Coordinate HVAC systems with plumbing layouts and architectural drawings
- Perform field measurements and site visits as needed
- Revise drawings based on field conditions and project changes
- Assist with load calculations and system sizing (Manual J/S/D a plus)
- Support estimating team with takeoffs and design clarification
- Ensure compliance with NY building codes and industry standards
- Assist in preparing detailed estimates and proposals for HVAC and plumbing systems
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in HVAC/mechanical drafting (MEP required)
- Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, duct design, and layout
- Ability to read architectural drawings and coordinate within building layouts
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Experience in residential or light commercial construction
Preferred
- Experience with high-end residential projects
- Familiarity with design-build environments
- Experience coordinating HVAC and plumbing systems in-house
