SPACS is looking for a creative and self-motivated intern to support our exhibitions,
events, social media, and visual content production. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in contemporary art, cultural programming, social media, exhibition space, design, and storytelling. The intern will work closely with the director and gain hands-on experience in gallery operations, exhibition promotion, event production, artist branding, and digital content strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assist with exhibitions, openings, events, workshops, and other cultural programs
- Support on-site event coordination, guest reception, documentation, and general gallery operations
- Help create social media and marketing content for Instagram, Reels, Stories, newsletters, and the website
- Capture photo and video content of exhibitions, events, artworks, artists, and behind-the-scenes moments
- Edit short-form videos and assist with graphic design for promotional materials
- Help organize artist materials, artwork images, captions, bios, press kits, and exhibition information
- Assist with tracking social media performance and suggesting ideas to improve audience engagement
- Support day-to-day administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Art or Design related background or degree
- Interest in contemporary art, design, culture, exhibitions, and creative communities
- Strong visual sense and attention to detail
- Basic photography and video editing skills
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar tools
- Familiarity with Instagram, Reels, and short-form content trends
- Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, Midjourney, Runway, or other creative platforms
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Responsible, proactive, and willing to learn
- English fluency required
- Mandarin Chinese language ability is a plus
- Flexibility to work some evenings or weekends for events is preferred
What You’ll Learn
This internship offers hands-on experience in how a contemporary art space develops exhibitions, promotes artists, produces events, builds community, and communicates through digital platforms. You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to SPACS’ programming and content strategy while learning about gallery operations, artist relations, social media marketing, and creative production.
