Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Geospatial Engineer and play a critical role in supporting efficient material inventory layout and new site build planning through AutoCAD-based mapping. This position involves travel to new build and operational sites to assess real-world conditions, take accurate measurements, and translate site-specific information into scalable, efficient site maps in AutoCAD Maps 3D or Civil 3D. Primarily, site plans pertain to utility pole storage Blackwood is seeking a proactive and technically adept individual to serve as the critical link in consistently generating deployable site build drawing packets. This role demands a unique blend of technical expertise and logistical thinking to ensure our products meet both engineering standards and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Travel to active and proposed sites to gather landscape data and dimensional measurements for yard layout planning.
- Create and maintain accurate, to-scale site maps using AutoCAD software, ensuring efficient inventory flow and accessibility.
- Coordinate frequently with the Sales Engineer to understand customer-specific requirements and provide feedback on operational feasibility.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to align site designs with product standards and material capabilities.
- Stay current with industry technologies to enhance map-building efficiency and accuracy.
- Understand and incorporate driver logistics and material flow into site layouts to maximize site functionality.
- Interpret and apply technical data, documentation, and standards related to Blackwood products, site builds, and inventory.
- Engage regularly with the sales engineer to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Maintain accuracy in all technical and sales documentation provided to internal teams and clients.
Qualifications
- Proficient in AutoCAD software with a strong understanding of scale and spatial layout.
- Office 365 familiarity
- Commercial drone pilot license, or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to use A.I. tools, to improve task efficiency and build out self-check capabilities to maintain minimal rework.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Strong research orientation with the ability to stay up-to-date on emerging technologies relevant to mapping and operations.
- Ability to travel frequently to job sites.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
- Highly organized with a logistics-oriented mindset.
- Problem-solving attitude with a balance of customer focus and technical practicality.
