Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Business Analyst to support hospital inpatient operations and technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of inpatient clinical workflows, hospital operations, and healthcare systems. This individual will work closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and support the implementation of solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, document, and analyze business and functional requirements from inpatient stakeholders.
- Work closely with Nursing, Care Management, Admissions, Case Management, Clinical Documentation, and other hospital departments.
- Create BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process maps, and workflow diagrams.
- Analyze existing inpatient workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and requirement-gathering sessions.
- Support application implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancement projects.
- Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and QA teams.
- Assist with training, documentation, and change management activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Business Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of Business Analyst experience in a healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of inpatient hospital workflows and operations.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or Allscripts.
- Knowledge of inpatient clinical workflows, admissions, discharge planning, care coordination, and case management.
- Familiarity with HL7 interfaces and healthcare system integrations.
