This is a contract position for prototype development with the possibility of future work.
Required Skills
- Experience designing plush toys, stuffed animals, or pillows
- Ability to draft sewing patterns
- Professional sewing skills
- Experience constructing prototype soft goods
- Knowledge of upholstery foam, memory foam, batting, and stuffing
- Experience selecting fabrics and trim
- Ability to create and refine multiple prototype iterations
- Comfortable working with integrated electronic components
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Refine the overall stuffed pet design.
- Design and build a realistic plush cat head.
- Create sewing patterns for all fabric components.
- Sew complete working prototypes.
- Recommend the best fabrics, faux fur, foam, stuffing, and internal support materials.
- Design internal pockets and attachment methods for electronic components.
- Ensure the product is soft, comfortable, durable, and serviceable.
- Develop removable designer covers for laundering and protecting 'fur'.
- Collaborate with the embedded systems developer to integrate the electronics into the pillow.
- Revise the design based on testing and feedback.
