Role Description The Plant Engineer is a full-time, on-site role located in Wapato, WA, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring and optimizing plant systems, overseeing maintenance activities, and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime in packing and cold storage operations. This role also involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues, supporting power generation and distribution systems, and implementing improvements to enhance productivity and energy efficiency. The Plant Engineer collaborates with production and maintenance teams to plan preventive maintenance, maintain documentation, uphold regulatory and safety standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Finally, the Plant Engineer takes on multiple onsite projects, often requiring electrical and mechanical skills.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Plant Engineering and Plant Operations skills, with experience in industrial or food processing environments.
- Candidates should possess Plant Maintenance and Troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues, coordinate repairs, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Candidates should possess Power Generation and related utility systems skills, including familiarity with electrical distribution, compressors, and refrigeration support equipment.
- Electrical experience and qualifications preferred.
- Additional beneficial skills include knowledge of refrigeration and cold storage systems, understanding of safety and regulatory requirements, and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work on-site, respond to time-sensitive issues, manage multiple priorities, and support a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to follow direction from management, self-manage time and priorities, and come onsite outside of normal working hours at times.
