Overview
We're looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Residential Deck Designer to join our team. This position plays a critical role in transforming sold projects into build-ready plans by creating permit-ready drawings, material takeoffs, and production documentation that enable our crews to work efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed residential deck construction drawings and permit-ready plans.
- Design decks that comply with local building codes and project specifications.
- Prepare accurate material takeoffs and material orders.
- Create labor tickets and installation packages for production crews.
- Review contracts, measurements, and project details for accuracy before production.
- Coordinate with engineers when structural drawings or calculations are required.
- Submit revisions and updates when permit departments request changes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field personnel to resolve design questions during construction.
- Maintain organized project documentation within the company's project management system.
- Assist in improving design standards and production processes.
Requirements
- Experience designing residential decks or similar residential construction projects.
- Proficiency with residential design or CAD software. Experience with any professional design software is acceptable; however, Chief Architect is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans and specifications.
- Strong understanding of residential building codes and deck construction methods.
- Experience preparing accurate material takeoffs and production documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with construction management software is a plus.
