Audio Visual Design Sales EngineerPosition Summary
The Audio Visual Design Sales Engineer is responsible for consulting with new and existing clients to assess their audiovisual needs, design integrated technology solutions, and prepare professional proposals using the company's Solutions360 software. This position combines technical expertise with consultative sales skills to deliver solutions that meet client objectives while supporting company growth.
Our clients represent a broad range of industries, including corporate offices, healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, and houses of worship. Projects range from boardrooms and video conferencing systems to audio, video, livestream production, digital signage, LED video walls, background music, and integrated control systems.
Essential Responsibilities
- Meet with new and existing clients in person, by phone, or virtually to conduct needs assessments and identify operational challenges and project objectives.
- Develop new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients through regular follow-up, exceptional customer service, and ongoing account management.
- Generate repeat business by identifying opportunities for system expansions, technology upgrades, service agreements, and additional solutions that provide long-term value to clients.
- Design commercial audiovisual systems including conference rooms, training spaces, sound systems, video conferencing, digital signage, control systems, livestreaming, LED video walls, and other integrated technologies.
- Prepare accurate proposals, estimates, and scopes of work using Solutions360.
- Present and explain proposed solutions, answer client questions, and revise designs as needed.
- Prepare post-sale project documentation, including one-line diagrams, signal flow drawings, rack elevations, and other project drawings as required to provide the installation department with a clear roadmap for successful project execution.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and installation personnel to ensure proposed systems are practical, complete, and ready for execution.
- Work with manufacturers and vendors to remain current on products and emerging technologies.
- Provide post-sale support by assisting the Operations Department with system commissioning, client orientation, and final acceptance to help ensure each project is successfully delivered and meets customer expectations.
- Maintain accurate proposal documentation and assist with project handoff to Operations.
Qualifications
- Experience designing commercial audiovisual systems required.
- Strong knowledge of commercial AV technologies, QSC Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, and other integrated AV systems.
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Experience with Solutions360 or similar proposal software preferred.
- CTS-D certification is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations.
Performance Expectations
Success is measured by the quality and accuracy of system designs, proposal turnaround time, sales performance, customer satisfaction, effective project handoffs, the quality and completeness of project documentation, and successful participation in project commissioning and client acceptance.
The position is in Iowa.
