About Revel
At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world's most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.
Role Overview
We are looking for an early-career Embedded Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team. You will contribute to the critical software layer that bridges Revel's high-performance runtime and the complex physical world of industrial machinery. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will develop skills in systems programming, hardware integration, and safety-critical software development — growing into a role where a millisecond feels like an eternity and correctness is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Support integration of industrial hardware, learning to navigate register maps and standard protocols.
- Assist in implementing Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) under senior guidance.
- Write and contribute to Rust code targeting Linux userspace.
- Learn to use hardware debugging tools including logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Contribute to code quality through testing and peer reviews.
- Develop an understanding of system reliability as a safety requirement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 0–2 years of professional experience in systems programming or embedded software development.
- Foundational knowledge of C, C++, or Rust — strong motivation to work primarily in Rust.
- Basic understanding of Linux internals or operating system concepts.
- Strong analytical mindset and eagerness to learn hardware-software integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Any coursework or personal project experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, or CAN.
- Exposure to hardware debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
- Interest in safety-critical or real-time systems.
- Any experience with Rust, even in personal projects.
Why Revel
- Join a world-class team of engineers with decades of critical software applications experience.
- Work on groundbreaking technology that directly impacts critical infrastructure and high-stakes industries with strong early traction.
- Competitive salary, substantial equity, and significant personal growth opportunities.
- Collaborative, ambitious, and technically challenging environment.
