Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, driven Assistant Designer to support the design and development of our seasonal collections. Sitting at a level between our Design Intern/Apprentice and Associate Designer roles, this position transitions from operational support into hands-on technical design execution.
In this role, you will be responsible for drafting clean technical CADs, setting up and updating tech packs, tracking sample workflows, taking precise fitting notes, and collaborating daily with Product Development and Technical Design. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with solid Adobe Illustrator skills, a keen eye for contemporary denim and street style, and a strong desire to build a career in apparel design.
What You’ll Do:
- Create and maintain clean, detailed flat technical sketches and CADs using Adobe Illustrator.
- Build and update initial tech packs, wash detail pages, artwork callouts, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
- Track incoming prototypes, lab dips, strike-offs, wash standards, and fabric swatches. Help maintain updated seasonal WIP (Work-in-Progress) tracking documents.
- Actively participate in fit sessions; take detailed, actionable design and construction notes to update CADs and tech packs immediately following fittings.
- Gather market insights, street-style imagery, wash references, and inspiration to help build seasonal concept boards and presentation decks.
- Partner closely with Product Development, Tech Design, and Merchandising teams to track sample status and keep development moving forward on schedule.
- Oversee the organization and preparation of physical samples, swatch books, and presentation materials for milestone meetings and mill appointments.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in apparel design (experience with denim, wash development, or casualwear is a plus).
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator & Photoshop) and Microsoft Excel / G-Suite.
- Solid understanding of garment construction, technical drawing, flat sketching, and basic wash/fabrication terms.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational habits, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, "can-do" attitude, eagerness to learn, adaptable to fast feedback, and strong follow-through on all tasks.
