Position Overview
The BD Associate supports the sales and business development team in developing and advancing behind-the-meter, distributed energy projects for industrial and other end-use customers. This role works closely with senior sales professionals to coordinate customer outreach, maintain CRM data, prepare sales and management materials, and support campaigns that generate new business opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to build a career in renewable energy sales and project development. The role provides hands-on experience supporting complex commercial transactions while working alongside experienced sales professionals. As the associate develops the necessary skills and industry knowledge, there will be opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, build customer relationships, and ultimately lead and manage their own sales opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Support senior sales professionals throughout the sales process by preparing customer presentations, proposals, internal approval materials, and other documents that advance commercial opportunities.
- Participate in introductory customer and partner calls to understand customer needs and document follow-up actions.
- Manage customer-related administrative activities, including processing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), collecting customer information, and coordinating requests from prospective customers.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the company's CRM (HubSpot), ensuring accurate pipeline management and data integrity. This includes opportunity tracking, weekly pipeline dashboards for sales team and wider leadership
- Assist sales team members with CRM updates, opportunity management, task tracking, and documentation throughout the sales cycle.
- Coordinate lead generation initiatives by working with the marketing team on campaign messaging, collateral, webinars, email outreach, and other customer engagement activities.
- Research prospective customers, target markets, and competitors, synthesizing findings into actionable summaries and recommendations for the sales team.
- Collaborate across sales, marketing, engineering, and development teams to ensure sales materials accurately reflect project capabilities and customer value propositions.
- Effectively manage multiple assignments, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Around 0.5-2.5 years of experience in sales, business development, marketing, consulting, renewable energy, or a related field (internships included). Preference for energy or renewable energy related experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear, professional presentations and customer-facing materials.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to research information, synthesize findings, and develop recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar systems is preferred.
- Comfortable learning technical concepts related to renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), distributed energy resources (DERs), and commercial energy markets.
- Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.
