Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Associate with strong visualization and documentation skills to collaborate with and support our design team. The ideal candidate will assist with high-quality 3D renderings, construction documents and detailing, and help manage projects from the office by serving as a key point person for client questions and information needs. This role combines creative technical support with project coordination and client communication in a collaborative studio environment focused on multi-family residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the design team in producing accurate 3D renderings and visualizations using SketchUp (and related tools) to help communicate design concepts for multi-family units, common areas, and amenities.
- Support the preparation and detailing of construction documents, including drawings, elevations, sections, and specifications, to help guide contractors during construction and installation.
- Collaborate with the design team on project documentation needs throughout the design and construction process.
- Help manage projects from the office and serve as a primary point person for client questions, ensuring clear, timely communication and that clients receive the information they need.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing the resource library (materials, finishes, samples, and product literature).
- Help prepare and ship material samples to clients in a timely and professional manner.
- Support communication with clients regarding project timelines, upcoming meetings, and installation schedules.
- Assist with general studio support tasks as needed to keep projects and operations running smoothly.
- Work closely with designers, developers, vendors, and contractors to help ensure clarity and accuracy of design intent.
Qualifications
- Experience creating architectural or interior design renderings in SketchUp (or similar 3D modeling software).
- Background or education in architecture, interior design, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing or assisting with construction documents and detailing for contractor use.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for client and team interactions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced studio setting.
- Proficiency with standard design and office software; willingness to learn additional tools as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-family residential projects.
- Experience in hotel or hospitality design is a plus.
- Familiarity coordinating with contractors, developers, or fabricators.
- Knowledge of material libraries, finish selections, and sample management for residential interiors.
This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to contribute to distinctive multi-family design projects in a creative, client-focused environment.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
