Job Type: Full-time - 40 hours per week with paid overtime.
Location: Northern California Region – Remote Hybrid. CA Residency Required.
Salary: $130,000.00 - $170,000.00 DOE + Bonuses

JMA is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer (PE) to join its growing transportation design team. This role focuses on the design and delivery of rail, transit, roadway, utility, and drainage infrastructure projects throughout California while providing technical leadership from planning through construction.
The Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer, responsibilities include leading civil design efforts, mentoring project staff, coordinating with clients and agencies, and delivering high-quality transportation infrastructure projects. You’ll work hands‑on with tools like Civil 3D and OpenRoads, collaborate closely with clients and agencies, and help deliver projects that shape the future of transit and rail.
Role Overview
- Lead the design of transportation, rail, roadway, utility, grading, and drainage improvements
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
- Coordinate with public agencies, utilities, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
- Oversee project delivery from planning through construction
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical development
- Support PA&ED and PS&E package development
Qualifications
- California PE license (Civil)
- 4+ years of civil engineering experience minimum (3+ years on U.S. projects)
- Professionals with 10+ years of civil engineering & leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong experience with OpenRoads and/or Civil 3D
- Solid understanding of transportation and civil design standards
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with residency in California
