Mortgage Underwriter

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Residential Lending Manager. The Mortgage Underwriter’s primary responsibility is to review and analyze applications for residential mortgage loans and HELOCs based on Fannie Mae underwriting guidelines. The Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for the preparation of written Loan Presentations to present to the Bank’s Loan Committees for loan approvals. The Mortgage Underwriter will also be responsible for reviewing third party reports such as credit reports and appraisals, following up with Borrowers for outstanding loan conditions, clearing files to close, and ensuring compliance with all applicable lending regulations.

The Mortgage Underwriter is to work effectively with the Chief Lending Officer, the Residential Credit Manager, the Mortgage Loan Processor, and the Bank’s Loan Originators (LOs) to support all residential loan processes.

Key Qualifications:

· Provide superior customer service by responding to requests in a timely manner;

· Experience in residential lending, reviewing credit documentation and underwriting files to Fannie Mae guidelines;

· Ability to review legal documentation, title reports, insurance policies, flood certificates;

· Highly motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment;

· Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to develop a working knowledge of other programs and systems employed by the Bank;

· Outstanding written and oral communication skills;

· Accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of execution of responsibilities;

· Familiarity with Finastra D+H “LaserPro” software;

· Integrity and ethics;

· Adherence to policies and procedures;

· Ongoing, consistent support of the Bank’s goals and values.
