Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 5+ Years

The Opportunity
We are a rapidly growing, mid-sized Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) supporting approximately 800 financial advisors across 32 locations. We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join our senior leadership team and take a key role in the continued development and execution of our investment platform.
This is not simply a research position. We are looking for a hands-on investment professional who has experience building and managing investment models, executing trades, overseeing portfolio implementation, managing RIA billing through Orion, and leading an Investment Committee.
The Portfolio Manager will report directly to the CEO and Senior Vice Presidents and will have significant visibility and influence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, monitor, and enhance the firm's investment models and model portfolios.
- Lead the firm's Investment Committee, including preparing agendas, research, recommendations, performance reviews, and investment decisions.
- Oversee portfolio construction, asset allocation, manager and security selection, rebalancing, and risk management.
- Manage and oversee trading across client accounts and model portfolios.
- Maintain disciplined investment processes and ensure investment decisions are properly implemented throughout the organization.
- Manage and oversee RIA billing through Orion, including billing processes, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and accuracy.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on the Orion Advisor Technology platform and help improve the firm's use of Orion across investment management and operations.
- Monitor portfolio and model performance and communicate results and investment strategy to senior leadership and financial advisors.
- Conduct ongoing investment research across equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, alternative investments, and other investment solutions.
- Work closely with advisors to provide portfolio guidance and support sophisticated client situations.
- Partner with Compliance, Operations, Finance, and senior leadership to ensure investment processes are scalable and compliant.
- Help develop the investment infrastructure necessary to support the continued growth of an organization with hundreds of financial advisors.
- Identify opportunities to improve technology, trading efficiency, portfolio management, reporting, and advisor support.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 5 years of portfolio management/investment management experience within an RIA, wealth management firm, asset manager, or similar financial services organization.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing investment models/model portfolios.
- Significant hands-on experience with trading and portfolio implementation.
- Direct experience with Orion, including RIA billing.
- Experience participating in and preferably leading an Investment Committee.
- Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment research, performance measurement, and risk management.
- Experience operating in a multi-advisor or multi-office wealth management environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate sophisticated investment concepts clearly to both advisors and senior executives.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA designation strongly preferred.
- Experience working with a large or rapidly growing RIA.
- Experience supporting a significant number of financial advisors and client accounts.
- Advanced knowledge of Orion's portfolio management, trading, reporting, and billing capabilities.
- Previous responsibility for developing scalable investment processes and infrastructure.
- Experience managing or mentoring investment professionals.
Who We're Looking For
The right candidate combines the technical capabilities of a strong portfolio manager with the leadership mentality required to help build an institutional-quality investment platform.
You should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution—leading an Investment Committee one day and digging into models, trades, billing, or portfolio implementation the next.
We are particularly interested in someone who has helped an RIA scale its investment platform and understands the challenges that come with supporting hundreds of advisors across multiple locations.
Compensation & Growth
Expected total compensation will average approximately $200,000, with significant upside based on experience, performance, and contribution to the growth of the organization.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to become a key investment leader inside a growing wealth management organization and have a meaningful voice in how the firm's investment platform evolves.
If you are an experienced Portfolio Manager with strong Orion experience and are looking for an opportunity with significant responsibility, visibility, and upside, we would like to hear from you.
