The Technical Designer will work closely with the Head Designer, VP of Production, Sales team, and overseas factories throughout the product development and production process.
The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of garment construction, fit, measurements, and basic patternmaking principles. This position does not require hands-on patternmaking; however, the candidate must understand pattern construction well enough to identify fit issues, determine appropriate garment adjustments, and communicate clear correction instructions to factories.
Candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple styles simultaneously, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Adobe Illustrator HIGH LEVEL ABILITY- Must be able to execute detailed flat sketches in Illustrator
Microsoft Excel- working knowledge
Adobe Photoshop skills required

Responsibilities and Duties
- Create and maintain tech packs from proto development through TOP approval
- Conduct fittings on live models and evaluate overall garment fit, proportion, construction, and measurements
- Identify fit and construction issues and provide clear, accurate fit comments and correction instructions to factories
- Understand how pattern adjustments affect garment fit, balance, shape, and construction
- Review garment measurements and maintain accurate specifications and graded spec sheets
- Measure and evaluate incoming samples against approved specifications
- Review proto, fit, PP, and TOP samples
- Take clear fit photos and document corrections when necessary
- Review garment construction, workmanship, and general quality
- Communicate daily with overseas factories regarding fit comments, sample corrections, and development issues
- Work closely with Design, Production, and Sales on multiple styles and projects simultaneously
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, measurements, and patternmaking principles
- Patternmaking knowledge is required for fit evaluation and garment corrections; hands-on pattern drafting is not required
- Experience writing clear and accurate fit comments and garment specifications
- Experience creating and maintaining tech packs
- Advanced Adobe Illustrator skills, including the ability to create detailed technical flat sketches
- Adobe Photoshop proficiency
- Moderate Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously

5 - 7 years of experience is preferred. Needs to be able to accurately measure women's clothing in both Missy & Plus sizes.
