About Freezer Engineering
Freezer Engineering is a specialized engineering firm serving oil, gas, chemical and industrial clients from offices
in the Denver metro area and Houston. We deliver modular skid-based process systems, industrial power
distribution, instrumentation and controls, and medium-voltage electrical solutions. We are a hands-on team
where engineers own their work from concept through construction.
The Role
We are looking for a licensed engineer with an equal balance of civil and structural experience to lead the site
and structural design for commercial and industrial plant projects. You will carry the civil and structural scope
yourself, from site layout and grading through foundations and steel, and seal the deliverables. This role suits
someone who is just as comfortable laying out a site drainage plan as designing a pipe rack.
What You Will Do
Civil
- Develop site plans, grading, paving, access roads and laydown areas for commercial and industrial facilities
- Design stormwater drainage, detention and erosion control; prepare drainage reports and SWPPPs
- Lay out site utilities, including water, sanitary, fire water and duct banks, in coordination with other disciplines
- Prepare civil permit packages and work with city, county and state agencies
Structural
- Design foundations for equipment, process skids, transformers, tanks and buildings, including mats, spread
footings and drilled piers
- Design structural steel for pipe racks, platforms, stairs, equipment supports and skid structures
- Coordinate with geotechnical consultants and apply their recommendations, including wind, seismic and snow
loads under IBC and ASCE 7
- Review vendor and pre-engineered metal building submittals, and check skid and anchorage designs
Across both
- Prepare calculation packages, drawings and specifications, and seal them as Engineer of Record
- Work closely with process, electrical and piping engineers on integrated plant layouts
- Support bidding, construction and site visits; answer RFIs and review shop drawings
- Keep scope, schedule and budget on track for your discipline
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license; Colorado or Texas preferred, or able to obtain by comity
- 5+ years of experience with a real balance of site/civil and structural design work
- Industrial, commercial, energy or process plant experience
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC 360
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or Civil 3D and a structural analysis package such as RISA, STAAD.Pro or
SAP2000

- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and willing to do the design work yourself as well as
review it
- Clear written and verbal communication with clients, contractors and agencies
Nice to Have
- PE licenses in multiple states, or an SE license
- Experience with modular or skid-mounted process equipment
- Foundation design for large rotating equipment or power transformers
- Hydrology and hydraulics software such as HydroCAD or Hydraflow
- Consulting or EPC background
