Farmers Choice LLC is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller in the Bismarck area to support accounting operations and our continued growth. With four locations in North Dakota and two outside the state, we are looking for someone who can strengthen financial processes and provide accurate information to guide business decisions.
This is an opportunity to work closely with the Controller, company leadership, and location teams while making a meaningful impact on a growing agricultural business.
What You’ll Do
- Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing and prepare accurate, timely financial reports.
- Help develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor financial performance across locations and assist with analyzing results.
- Support inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and margin reporting.
- Help maintain internal controls and consistent accounting procedures across locations.
- Assist with accounting system improvements and help teams use technology effectively.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for outside accountants, lenders, and other financial partners.
- Assist with payroll accounting and required tax filings and reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to accounting and administrative staff.
What You Bring
- Strong accounting experience, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or in a similar role.
- A solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, budgeting, and cash management.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, investigate discrepancies, and follow through on details.
- Clear communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach.
- A willingness to handle daily accounting needs while keeping broader business goals in view.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. CPA or CMA credentials and experience in agriculture, inventory-based businesses, or multi-location operations are a plus.
