About Us
We’re a small but growing robotics company building miniature micro-UGV systems for military, law enforcement, and other customers. All our systems are designed in-house, with components supplied by qualified external manufacturers. Final assembly, testing, and support are done by our team.
The Opportunity
This is our first dedicated quality hire. Your first initiative will be using our existing, organically grown quality practices to develop an ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and lead us to independent certification by mid-2027. Our goal is to create a system that is rigorous but right sized for a small company.
What You’ll Do
- QMS: Build and own the ISO 9001 QMS, including procedures, document and record control, metrics, internal audits, management reviews, and corrective action.
- Suppliers and incoming quality: Qualify suppliers (machine shops, molders, PCB assemblers), set quality requirements, define incoming inspection, and manage supplier corrective actions and changes.
- Production quality: Define assembly procedures, in-process and final inspection, nonconformance handling, and root-cause analysis.
- Test and fulfillment: Set product release criteria and establish configuration verification and traceability.
- Repair and field quality: Define repair and return processes, track failures, and create reports for engineering.
- Engineering partnership: Join design reviews and support new product development and engineering changes.
- Customer, regulatory, and government requirements: Determine which contract, regulatory, and government standards apply and turn them into practical processes.
Required Experience
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering (computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar). Relevant trade or military training or comparable evidence of competence will be considered.
- 5+ years in quality engineering or quality systems
- Hands-on experience implementing or substantially developing an ISO 9001 QMS and preparing an organization for certification audit
- Supplier qualification and incoming, in-process, and final inspection
- Nonconformance management, corrective action, root-cause analysis, and internal audits
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
Preferred Experience
- Small manufacturing, electromechanical, robotics, aerospace, or defense background
- Work with contract manufacturers
- Government contracting (FAR/DFARS) and configuration/change control
- ERP/MRP or electronic QMS tools
- CQE, CQA, or ISO 9001 Internal/Lead Auditor credentials
