Job Overview
As a CAD Designer, you’ll turn engineering concepts into clear, accurate drawings and models that support product development and mechanical system design. You’ll use computer-aided design (CAD) tools to create and maintain technical documentation, coordinate design details, and help teams move confidently from concept to assembly. Your impact: Accurate, well-coordinated designs help engineering and production teams build and review systems with fewer ambiguities.
Duties
- Create 2D CAD drafts, 3D CAD models, mechanical drawings, assemblies, schematics, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Support mechanical design, design engineering, system design, and 3D modeling for product design.
- Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and relevant American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes and standards.
- Maintain CAD documentation, prepare technical writing, and use product data management (PDM) software to organize design files.
- Coordinate models and drawings using building information modeling (BIM) tools and review platforms such as Bluebeam and Navisworks; create 2D animations when needed.
Skills
- Strong drafting ability, mechanical knowledge, and understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Experience with CAD software; relevant tools may include AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER.
- Familiarity with mechanical drafting, CAD, assembly design, and design of mechanical systems.
- Experience with BIM tools, PDM software, technical documentation, or 2D animation is useful.
- Clear communication and careful attention to detail when interpreting design requirements and coordinating revisions.
