GAST ARCHITECTS is an established, well-respected, eleven-person firm in San Francisco’s SOMA district that focuses on both new construction and renovations of custom, high-end residential projects in the Bay Area and beyond. In addition, we initially pay for 50% of ARE exam fees and then reimburse the remaining 50% upon licensure. In the last 5 years, two of our designers have become registered architects and another is taking exams now.
Our Growing Office Is Looking For a Person With Design Talent And Technical Savvy To Work With Our Principals And Project Architects To Develop Innovative Designs In a Collaborative Project Team Work Environment. Applicants Should Be Able To Show Skill And Experience, Or The Willingness To Learn The Following
- Experience and deep interest in single family residential design, Type V wood-frame construction, residential products, and detailing. Actual construction experience is a plus.
- Demonstrate creative critical thinking and presentation skills
- BIM proficiency in 2-D drafting and 3-D modeling (we are an ArchiCAD office and will provide new designers who have BIM experience with significant training in the software)
- Experience in developing well-detailed Construction Documents as part of a team
- Knowledge of codes and regulations. Local experience in San Francisco is highly valued, but not expected.
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Personable, a team player with high integrity and a sense of humor
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous internship experience
We offer competitive pay ($70K to $80K depending on experience); a superior benefits package (Gold health plan, 100% of premiums paid by firm; profit sharing eligible on 1/1/2027); indoor bike storage and shower; and a casual, supportive environment. Our spacious design studio is located in a recently renovated, mixed-use development. The LEED Gold-certified historic warehouse includes a roof deck for lunches and a green roof.
This position is full time and upon reaching proficiency in ArchiCAD, there is flexibility to work from home Mondays & Fridays. You must be a U.S. citizen or have a work permit.
