This opportunity is based at a newly opened, state-of-the-art \$434.4 million hospital located in one of Washington, DC’s most medically underserved communities. The 136-bed facility includes an ambulatory pavilion, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transports — making it the city’s first new inpatient hospital in over 20 years.
Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital, implementing the strategic vision of the CEO and UHS. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee hospital departments to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery
- Implement cost controls and drive financial performance, including margin improvement and bad debt reduction
- Lead quality initiatives and community service programs
- Develop and mentor department leaders and staff to foster a high-performance culture
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal governance
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hospital experience, with at least 2–3 years in senior management
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration, or related field preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex operations
- Financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
