Position Summary
Prudent Publishing Company, Inc. (D/B/A Gallery Collection), a family-owned industry leader in premium printed products and B2B greeting cards, is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Team. This strategic hire will play a key role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, driving operational excellence. This person will be joining a two-person executive leadership team that will be running the company. This positions reports directly to the President. In addition, we are starting to build out a succession plan that will start to take shape within two years as part of a planned leadership transition.
The ideal candidate will bring not only a strong background in finance and operations, but also deep experience in the world of direct marketing, ideally in a B2B environment. As much as we are a light manufacturing company, Prudent’s historical and ongoing success is rooted in the sophistication of our direct marketing capabilities, including catalog mailings, digital acquisition, retention analytics, and customer file optimization. The CFO must understand the key drivers of this model and be able to partner closely with our marketing and analytics teams to support profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership – Serving as a strategic partner to the President, executive team, and Board of Directors. Lead long-term financial planning, capital allocation, and risk management. Oversee FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting with a focus on actionable insights tied to customer file performance, campaign ROI, and lifetime value.
Direct Marketing Financial Partnership - Partner with our Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing and List & Analysis teams to evaluate campaign performance, and multichannel acquisition cost dynamics. Be familiar with key direct marketing metrics: response rates, average order value, cost per acquisition, ROAS, and renewal rates. Understand the impact on the financials test/control strategies and cost-efficient customer file expansion.
Operational & Business Oversight - Oversee all finance-related functions including accounting, audit, tax, treasury, insurance, and internal controls. Lead initiatives to improve gross margins, variable cost structures, and pricing strategies. Responsible for leading the following departments - Plant Operations, Customer Service, IT. Lead initiatives to enhance cross-departmental transparency, and performance.
Technology & Systems Modernization – Lead the continued evolution of finance and business systems (e.g., Sage X3 ERP, Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, PIM tools) to support growth, efficiency, and decision-making. Collaborate with IT to evaluate and implement technologies that streamline reporting, controls, and automation.
Succession Development & Culture - Actively engage in learning all facets of Prudent’s operations, culture, and leadership DNA. Build strong relationships across departments to lead with influence, empathy, and accountability. Be a cultural steward and ambassador for the Company’s core pillars:

Qualifications & Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred. 15+ years of progressive finance and operational leadership experience. Experience in privately held, family-owned, or mid-market manufacturing/distribution environments. Demonstrated success in a CFO or senior finance role at a company of comparable size and complexity. Proven experience managing across departments and partnering closely with CEOs, COOs, and Boards. Strong command of financial reporting, forecasting, cost management, and capital strategy. Experience with ERP systems (preferably Sage X3) and data analytics platforms.
Preferred: Substantial experience in a B2B direct marketing business model ideally catalog, e-commerce, or multi-channel selling with strong understanding of customer file dynamics and campaign analysis. Background in supporting or driving organizational transformation or succession. Understanding of product lifecycle management, inventory costing, and vendor contract management.

Compensation Disclosure (per NJ Pay and Benefit Transparency Act)Pursuant to the New Jersey Pay and Benefit Transparency Act, Prudent Publishing Company, Inc. is disclosing the compensation range for this position.
Compensation Range:$200,000 - $275,000 annual base salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for performance-based incentives and executive-level benefits, including health coverage, retirement plan contributions, and other supplemental benefits. Please note: Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's background, skills, and alignment with the responsibilities.
