Position Statement
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Major Events & Marketing Coordinator/Social Media Manager to join our team at the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. This multi-faceted position is ideal for a highly organized individual with a passion for community engagement, digital communication, and event coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that enhance the Chamber’s visibility and member engagement, as well as support coordinating a variety of business and community events throughout the year. Position Summary
- As Social Media Manager, you will manage 4-5 social media accounts across 3-5 platforms by creating engaging content, analyzing insights and reports, and implementing social media strategies to increase a positive online presence. This involves using video, graphics and messaging to promote the Chamber of Commerce and its various programs, events, initiatives and member activities.
- With Major Events (13 major events per year, including community-wide efforts ranging from 100-500 attendees to large scale event support), you will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer to assist in successfully organizing and executing the processes leading to a successful event.
- With Membership Services, you will work with the VP of Member Services assisting in all facets of communications and administration support of membership services monthly events, councils/committees and member benefits.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the organization's presence and outreach on various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Create engaging and relevant content for social media platforms (supported by the C.O.O. and head of marketing).
- Monitor and analyze social media performance using analytics tools.
- Maintain regular communication with chamber members to keep them informed about events, programs, and opportunities.
- Answer incoming phone calls to the Chamber and manage/direct these calls, questions, and communications to Executive Staff/Staff Members, including walk in’s and email
- Coordinate and manage event registration and seating for all Major events
- Help oversee events check in on-site to ensure proper execution
- Coordinate ribbon cuttings for chamber members; includes scheduling, sending invitations, marketing, and communicating with local legislators.
- Administratively help maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database, including contact information and active member representatives as needed

- Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with personnel, assist Members and people with inquiries, schedule meetings and appointments, as well as help with incoming telephone calls and walk-ins.

- High attention to detail of multiple priorities with the need to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Proficiency of Social media platform management and related tools (Canva, CapCut, etc.)
- Knowledge of social media marketing strategies to increase engagement.
- Produce expected results and set/achieve goals with each event and project

- Produce quality work in a timely manner and demonstrate a knowledge of systems and understanding.
- This role will require occasional early morning or late-night attendance for member events (Rarely on weekends). This is not an exhaustive job description, and additional tasks may be added as required by Executive Management or the needs of the organization.

Internal Operations
- Serve as the Support to the Executive Staff
- Work with the Office of the Mayor and other community stakeholders to calendar and deliver ribbon cutting ceremonies in celebration of local businesses.
- Maintain professional relationships with members and provide clerical support to and for members at the direction of the VP of Membership Services as needed.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
- Hourly Rate: $24–$30/hour, depending on experience
- Additional Compensation: Paid Overtime (when applicable/approved)
