Mechanical Engineer (Design Engineer II)

The Opportunity
Our Raleigh office is growing, and we’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Design Engineer II) to join our collaborative team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in technical design, client communication, and problem-solving within building systems projects. You’ll be working on diverse projects across plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm (PME/FA) systems—helping transform client needs into efficient, code-compliant designs.
What You’ll Do
- Develop technical drawings using AutoCAD or Revit
- Draw base floor plans and set up project drawing sheets
- Create and revise PME/FA designs, ensuring adherence to drafting standards
- Perform heat loss, heat gain, and ventilation calculations
- Complete electrical calculations, panel schedules, and NEC demand summaries
- Conduct site visits to document existing conditions
- Communicate directly with clients, vendors, and internal teams to align project requirements
- Provide design input across plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm systems
- Support senior staff on advanced project aspects and other assigned tasks
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 3–5 years of engineering design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD LT (Revit experience required for BIM drafting)
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of building codes and the National Electrical Code
- Ability to perform photometric plans using Visual 3D or similar software

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
