Job Purpose: We are seeking an innovative and confident Lead UX Designer to guide the end-to-end user experience strategy for complex enterprise applications within a dynamic Agile environment. This position involves leading the design vision from concept to implementation, ensuring that every digital solution is intuitive, efficient, and aligned with operational goals. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Owners, Researchers, and Engineers—to deliver user-centered designs that enhance productivity and streamline internal workflows.
Requirements: Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Design Process: Manage and execute the full design lifecycle, producing user-friendly, accessible, and technically sound high-fidelity prototypes in Figma.
- Champion Design Principles: Represent and advocate for user-centered design practices, clearly articulating design rationale and direction to stakeholders and development teams.
- Collaborate in Agile Environments: Engage actively in Agile ceremonies—such as sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives—to align design tasks with sprint objectives and timelines.
- Enhance User Experience: Work closely with Product Managers, Developers, and Researchers to analyze user needs, conduct usability testing, and iterate on designs for continuous improvement.
- Support Design Systems: Contribute to the maintenance and expansion of the organization’s design system by creating reusable UI components and ensuring visual and functional consistency.
- Design Quality Assurance: Partner with engineering teams to validate final implementations, ensuring design fidelity, accessibility, and adherence to specifications.
Required Skills & Experience:
- At least 5 years of hands-on UX design experience with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in high-fidelity enterprise-level design.
- Strong experience creating and managing reusable design components within a comprehensive design system.
- Deep understanding of Agile design workflows and the ability to operate efficiently in iterative development cycles.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma, FigJam, Jira, Confluence, and other design collaboration tools.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the confidence to advocate for design strategies and justify decisions.
- Must reside within the Northeast Corridor (Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Wilmington, DE, or NYC) and be able to travel roughly 25% for in-person design activities and workshops.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in operational, transportation, or technical environments with complex back-end systems.
- Background in designing tools, processes, or internal software for enterprise users.
- Familiarity with usability testing platforms such as UserTesting, Maze, or UserZoom.
- Solid understanding of accessibility requirements and best practices in compliance with WCAG standards.
