Position Summary: The Design Drafter is responsible for creating accurate and detailed blueprints and technical drawings for agricultural and light commercial building projects. Working closely with a team of engineers and drafters, the Design Drafter uses CAD and related software to develop and modify plans, ensuring that all designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and functional requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare detailed design drawings and blueprints using CAD or similar drafting software.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure building systems are functional, reliable, safe, and code-compliant.
- Modify existing designs as needed based on project scope, field data, or client feedback.
- Participate in job site visits to gather field measurements, verify project specifications, or assist in resolving issues.
- Consult with clients and project stakeholders to clarify design objectives and incorporate requested changes.
- Assist in testing and evaluating building systems to ensure design integrity and performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Drafting Manager.
Qualifications: Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Technical college coursework or certification in CAD, drafting, or design is a plus.
Experience:
- 0–1 years of relevant drafting or design experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
- Internship or co-op experience in a related role is beneficial but not required.

- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering/drafting programs).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Highly organized with strong time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to construction site environments, with potential safety hazards present.
- Must be able to travel to job sites as needed.
