Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Systems Engineer specializing in Cerner Charge Services to support a high-impact Revenue Cycle optimization initiative for a major U.S. health system.
This role requires a hands-on Cerner Developer / Technical Consultant / CCL Specialist experienced with Charge Services, Patient Accounting, and RevElate modules. You’ll design, develop, test, and optimize Cerner charge automation and billing workflows that directly support hospital finance operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test enhancements within Cerner Charge Services, Patient Accounting, and RevElate domains.
- Build and maintain CCL scripts, Discern Rules, and SQL queries supporting charge capture, claim transformation, and revenue flow.
- Implement and optimize Charge Transformation Rules, Claim Rules, and Pricing Tool configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve charge-posting, billing, and financial-integration issues in partnership with vendors and internal teams.
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Patient Accounting, and Financial Systems groups to ensure charge logic aligns with operational goals.
- Support testing, validation, and go-live activities for new charge-builds and workflow improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of Cerner Millennium experience in Charge Services, Patient Accounting, or Revenue Cycle.
- Strong hands-on experience with CCL, Discern Rules, and SQL.
- Understanding of billing, charge capture, and GL mapping workflows.
- Familiarity with Cerner RevElate or Soarian Financials preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or optimizing Charge Transformation Rules, Claim Rules, or Charge Automation.
- Familiarity with Bedrock, Discern Analytics, and Cerner testing tools (Test Builder, SSI, Waystar).
- Prior involvement in Cerner upgrade, optimization, or migration projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Healthcare Informatics, or related field preferred.
