UltraSystems is actively seeking to fill an Associate Planner position. Candidate should be familiar or have experience with CEQA/NEPA and have 4+ years of experience in the environmental field. This position is located in our Irvine, California office. This position is a regular, full-time salaried position.
Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience. Our firm is seeking an individual to support various environmental projects, throughout Southern CA.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the Associate Planner for a variety of CEQA/NEPA projects.
- Applicant will be skilled at managing lesser environmental documents (IS/MND and EA/FONSI) and assisting Project Manager(s) and other technical specialists to complete technical reports and sections of an environmental document.
- Demonstrate expertise in federal, State, and local laws and regulations related to environmental planning in California.
- With direction from Project Managers, and limited administrative supervision, independently applies advanced methods to work assignments.
- Commonly supervises interdisciplinary teams of professional staff on small to medium projects, and medium to large tasks. Will be expected to provide guidance in area of technical specialty to junior-level staff.
- Responsible for supervising and evaluating the work of team members, including writing and editing publications, including technical reports and CEQA/NEPA environmental documents.
- Frequent contacts with internal or external clients, agency staff, and public. Occasional travel, including field work and meetings or other activities outside standard work hours will be required.
Qualifications
4+ years of relevant experience is required.
The successful candidate will be an experienced environmental planner with a broad knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures in the field of environmental planning. Typical projects include work on existing on-call contracts, transportation, energy, and institutional projects.
BS degree in the field of planning or environmental science is required. Experience should include relevant education, previous environmental consulting experience, and strong writing and analytical skills.
