Head of Marketing | Buckleguy.com / Monomoy (Hybrid – Newburyport, MA)
Join a fast-growing e-commerce company serving the leather crafting and maker community. We’re seeking a hands-on marketing leader with DTC ecommerce experience and a proven track record managing six-figure ad budgets. You’ll build and execute campaigns, lead creative direction, and shape the marketing systems for Buckleguy.com and Monomoy.com.
About Us
Buckleguy.com is a fast-growing e-commerce company supplying premium hardware, tools, and materials to leather crafters, makers, and small manufacturers around the world. We’re known for exceptional product quality, deep industry knowledge, and a commitment to serving both professional and hobbyist creators.
Our sister brand, Monomoy, is a direct-to-consumer (DTC) custom leather hat and product company producing high-end leather goods designed and crafted in our Newburyport facility.
Both brands are part of IAS Ltd, a family-owned hardware manufacturing company serving the premium leather goods industry.
We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Marketing to own and grow marketing across both Buckleguy and Monomoy — roughly 80% Buckleguy and 20% Monomoy. This is a builder role for someone who wants to design the marketing system, drive campaigns, and directly impact growth.
We’re seeking someone who brings new ideas, creativity, and initiative — not just to maintain what exists, but to help reinvent how we market. You’ll have the freedom to test, experiment, and shape new initiatives that elevate our brands and connect with our customers in fresh, meaningful ways.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll plan strategy and execute campaigns yourself while working with a marketing support person and company leadership. Over time, you’ll help define and grow a small, high-performing marketing team as the business scales.
You’ll drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and retention — developing the systems, creative direction, and analytics needed to scale.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and own the marketing plan and content calendar for Buckleguy and Monomoy
- Create, launch, and measure digital campaigns (email, paid, and social) that drive traffic, sales, and retention
- Design and refine Klaviyo flows and CRM automations to improve customer lifecycle performance
- Manage and optimize paid campaigns across Meta, Google, YouTube, and marketplaces
- Manage six-figure advertising budgets with clear ROI accountability
- Lead creative direction for visuals, storytelling, and brand consistency across all channels
- Oversee product launches, photoshoots, and creative asset development
- Partner with Product and Web teams to ensure smooth new-product launches and site updates
- Oversee website performance, SEO best practices, and conversion-rate improvements
- Collaborate with developers to optimize the onsite experience across our e-commerce platforms
- Implement dashboards and metrics for campaign performance, CAC, ROAS, and retention
- Manage agency partners and coordinate projects efficiently
- Provide marketing leadership and creative direction to Monomoy (approximately 20% of your time)
- Bring fresh ideas and new initiatives — exploring new channels, content strategies, and partnerships
Who You Are — Required Experience & Skills
You should only apply if you meet all of the following criteria:
- 5–10+ years of marketing experience, including time in a senior or lead marketing role with measurable business impact
- Direct experience in DTC ecommerce marketing for a $10M+ online business
- Proven success building and executing full-funnel marketing campaigns that drive traffic, conversion, and retention
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.) for creative oversight and basic content work
- Advanced understanding of email marketing, automation, and segmentation — preferably using Klaviyo
- Strong command of paid media platforms (Meta Ads, Google Ads, YouTube) and analytics tools (GA4, LookerStudio, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Shopify, BigCommerce, and ecommerce tech integrations (product feeds, tagging, CRO tools)
- Experience with SEO, website optimization, and ecommerce analytics
- Skilled in photography, videography, and creative production direction — you understand what great visual content looks like
- Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on — you plan, execute, and measure yourself
- Experienced collaborating with a marketing support person and external partners
- Highly organized, analytical, and proactive — able to manage multiple initiatives with attention to detail
- Driven to build and improve — you thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where your ideas directly influence growth
