About Workers Benefit Fund (WBF)
At Workers Benefit Fund, we’re leveling the playing field for the modern workforce. We believe that when gig workers thrive, everyone benefits. Our mission is to collaborate with unions, platforms, and organizations that represent independent workers to deliver benefits and programs that strengthen economic stability and community connection.
Our Gig Worker Services team partners with clients to design and deliver engagement strategies and benefits for rideshare drivers and other gig communities. Through our Drivers Benefits program and others nationwide, we serve over 200,000 drivers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, and Washington—and we’re growing fast.
About the Role
We are seeking a creative and strategic Associate Manager, Brand Voice & Community Engagement to lead content development and manage the voice of our key client brands which focused on rideshare driver engagement.
This role centers on content creation and brand storytelling — crafting the tone, message, and creative expression that connect with diverse gig worker audiences. The ideal candidate can write with both clarity and heart, translating program benefits into compelling, relatable narratives that drive engagement and trust.
While primarily a remote content and brand role, this position also includes occasional in-person field engagement to gather stories, build relationships, and deepen understanding of the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Voice & Content Creation
- Own and develop the voice and tone for multiple client brands serving the rideshare and gig worker communities.
- Write high-impact marketing content across channels — including digital ads, SMS, email, landing pages, social media, and video scripts.
- Create and manage a comprehensive content calendar in coordination with Marketing Managers.
- Ensure brand consistency, compliance and accuracy across all communications, campaigns, and partner activations.
- Capture and curate authentic driver stories and local perspectives to inform and enrich campaign messaging.
- Monitor performance metrics and engagement data to refine content strategies and improve outcomes.
Community & Partner Engagement (Occasional)
- Attend select community events, community centers, driver meetups, or activations to gain insights and collect content.
- Build relationships with local institutions and partners to amplify program awareness.
- Use firsthand experiences from the field to bring authenticity and depth to written materials.
Campaign & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Marketing and Business teams to align content with campaign objectives and client goals.
- Manage content approvals, timelines, and deliverables to ensure smooth production flow along with brand marketing managers.
- Help maintain an organized library of marketing assets and ensure materials are accurate and up to date.
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional written communication skills and editorial judgment; able to adapt tone and style across audiences and brands.
- Strong storytelling instincts with the ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, human-centered messaging.
- Deep understanding of multicultural and multilingual audiences, particularly within the gig and driver communities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- “Customer-first” mindset with strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, CMS/CRM systems, and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven experience in content creation, brand marketing, or communications.
- Demonstrated ability to craft engaging content for digital and social channels.
- Familiarity with performance data and analytics for optimizing campaigns.
- Must live in or near the New York City area.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in labor, advocacy, or community-based work.
- Background in benefits, health programs, or the gig economy.
- Familiarity with both traditional and digital marketing strategies.
- Experience producing multimedia or storytelling content (e.g., interviews, short-form videos).
- Candidates must be fluent in English. Familiarity with or proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
