Job Purpose
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for working with all departments and engineering teams at both D. Wheatley Enterprises (DWE) and Special Projects Operations (SPO) to develop new products and manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Engineer will utilize CAD software to create 3D models of components, assemblies, manufacturing fixtures and be able to rapid prototype using the in-house capabilities. The role will also require duties in the engineering lab to test products in support of customer and product development deliverables. The Mechanical Engineer also provides appropriate documentation and technical advice to both manufacturing / machine shop floor personnel and customers to ensure that each product meets customer quality and delivery requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for mentoring junior personnel that need assistance in the development of sound engineering skills. Application of sound engineering principles in the development and documentation of molds, fixtures, testing and products.
Duties and Responsibilities
 - Work with program managers to develop designs and layout program schedules for existing and new business contracts
- Identify innovative and cost-effective solutions to design challenges
- Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation such as requirements traceability matrices
- Assist in creating and presenting technical reports regarding status and results of design and testing
- Execute design reviews
- Approval of design for manufacturing reviews
- Management of the mold building process
- Complete projects within assigned time frame
- Prepare estimates of development costs
- Time keeping and approval for assigned personnel
- Prepare and administer performance reviews for assigned employees
- Self and assigned employee’s workload distribution
- Provide leadership and guidance to assigned employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform requirements analysis for projects and apply results to the design process
- Lead and/or assist with the construction of prototypes to prove out design concepts
- Ability to derive requirement based on the use of a product to ensure product performance parameters are met
- Ability to decipher a path ahead on a project in an ambiguous environment
Qualifications
 - Education - BS in Engineering or related field and/or 10 years of on-the-job training in engineering
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings (e.g. blueprints) and computer models for parts, molds and fixtures
- 7 years of experience required
- 5 years of experience in injection molding and plastic part design.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload of multiple tasks
- Capability to prioritize employee’s workload in accordance with company priorities

Working Conditions
The Mechanical Engineer operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and fax machines. This position frequently works on the manufacturing floor. The Incumbent should abide by all safety regulations.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $110,000.00 per hour
