We are looking for a highly motivated Business Analyst II to join the Business, Customer, and Marketing Analytics Team. In this role, you will be responsible for generating business insights that contribute to partners across the company. This role will support analytics initiatives and provide comprehensive analysis for assigned and ad hoc requests. This position will analyze and synthesize business, customer, and marketing performance data using internal and external sources. The role will contribute to customer analytics development and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify reporting needs and help implement solutions for analytical process improvements.
Key job responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance by delivering data-driven, actionable insights that support leadership and key partner teams. Contribute to strategic discussions and help generate hypotheses. Analyze business impact levers (promotions, price, product, customer, etc.) using 3rd party competitive landscape tools, customer behavior metrics, and data science models. Serve as an analytical point of contact for projects, ad hoc analysis, and other initiatives. Collaborate with business partners to identify gaps in analytical processes and reporting; work with various teams to address these gaps and influence decision-making. Synthesize and communicate complex data and analyses through effective written documents and presentations. - Present information effectively and respond to questions in meetings involving various levels of leadership.
- Strong analytical curiosity – ability to investigate the “why” behind various results.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical methods to identify patterns, relationships, and trends across multiple data sources.
- Synthesizes complex data from various sources to construct a narrative which can be understood by a broad audience. Skilled at developing simple visualizations that lead to clear insights for various levels of stakeholder groups.
- Experience querying data from large enterprise databases and writing/modifying SQL code to answer business questions.
- Self-directed, innovative thinker with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal, and written.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic complemented with a positive, can-do attitude.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
- Experience with Excel
- Experience with SQL
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or Doctorate/PhD or equivalent and 5+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
- Experience leading projects across multiple stakeholders
- Experience in retail, operations and/or business management
- Experience with working with market syndicated data (e.g. Nielsen, Numerator), shopper insights solutions, visual analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau) and Microsoft Excel, familiarity with data basics, structure, and relationships.
- Ability to travel on occasion.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
