Job Summary
David Taussig & Associates, Inc. (DTA) is a public finance, facilities planning and urban economics consulting firm. We specialize in municipal infrastructure and public services finance and land development economics. DTA provides consulting services to both public and private sector clients throughout California. We are also serving clients in Arizona, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada and New Mexico. DTA has been a pioneer in the implementation of new municipal finance techniques in California and other states. We have been recognized as an innovator in the use of analytical methods and modeling approaches that are now considered state-of-the-art within the industry.
DTA currently has an associate position available. This position is ideal for an individual with 3-5 years’ experience in public finance or similar industry and a desire to develop a long-lasting, rewarding career with an industry leader.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Research development activity for a particular district (i.e., building permits)
- Prepare certain tables for bond official statements and annual CFD continuing disclosure reports. Such tables or information may include the following:
- Research overlapping debt information
- Prepare value-to-lien analyses
- Prepare top taxpayers tables
- Prepare sample property tax bills
- Prepare debt service coverage
- Assist with property tax delinquency research and report preparation
- Evaluate data for trends and communicate results, verbally or through written correspondence
- Assist with preparation of delinquency reminder letters to property owners
- Prepare CFD cash flow (tax-spread) model
- Assist with CFD formation tasks. Such tasks may include the following:
- Research parcels for the CFD boundary map
- Assist with preparation of the RMA
- Assist with preparation of the CFD Report
- Assist with drafting various reports/memos
- Work in a team of 5 to 6 other analysts and report to a manager
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel; database applications experience a plus
- Strong academic or work performance with emphasis in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Business or Statistics
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
- Desire to improve work procedures and to ensure work is performed effectively, accurately and efficiently
- Ability to coordinate information from a myriad of sources into a cohesive presentation
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis capabilities
- Attention to detail
- Pride in producing a quality work product
