Job Description: Financial Analyst

Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Track, reconcile, and analyze IRS and state refund deposits across thousands of client accounts.
- Maintain detailed AR ledgers and client-specific refund schedules.
- Prepare and maintain AR aging and variance reports.
- Investigate discrepancies between expected and actual refund amounts.
- Support client billing, payment allocation, and fee reconciliation processes.
- Monitor refund timelines and communicate delays, risks, or anomalies to leadership.
- Assist in monthly close, reconciliation, and reporting of AR/AP balances.
- Ensure compliance with IRS and program rules in all financial transactions.
Financial Data & Reporting:
- Build and maintain dashboards and financial reports tracking refund progress, payment cycles, and fee recovery.
- Perform deep-dive data analysis to detect anomalies, identify cash flow patterns, and flag inefficiencies.
- Clean and validate large data sets from multiple sources (CRM, accounting software, banking portals).
- Deliver weekly and monthly reporting packages for finance and executive leadership.
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Client Success, and Compliance to improve reconciliation workflows.
- Propose and implement automation or reporting enhancements to increase accuracy and speed.
- Help design scalable systems for refund tracking, data verification, and financial audit trails.
Educational/Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Data Analytics.
- 2–5 years of experience in AR/AP, financial analysis, or accounting (startup or fintech preferred).
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, macros).
- Experience reconciling complex financial transactions and managing multi-system data flows.
- Strong analytical mindset and obsession with detail; nothing gets past you.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial data.
Skills:
- Familiarity with QuickBooks
- Background in SaaS, fintech, or accounting automation.
- Proactive, self-directed, and able to work independently.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
