Position: Data Analyst, Research
The data analyst is responsible for providing support with analysis and reporting of strategic data, KPIs and research at ACVB. Reporting can take the form of short executive summaries, written reports, PowerPoints, discussions with and presentations to other team members. Analysis performed in this role may relate to, but not be limited to, marketing activities, sales team performance, convention / meeting planner sentiment, hotel activity, visitation and consumer trends. The position will work closely with the department’s director and manager on utilizing analysis tools and data platforms (including Tableau, CoStar and Placer.ai) to enhance ACVB’s ability to effectively market Atlanta as a destination for meetings, events, and leisure travelers.
Primary Responsibilities (including, But Are Not Limited To)
- Analyze data, identify insights, and share analysis in written accounts, PowerPoint presentations, discussions with and presentations to other team members.
- Attend industry webinars and review publicly shared research from these and other public sources, such as newsletters and articles. Share summaries and insights from these sources to colleagues.
- Share research and insights with staff through a “Research Updates” Teams channel.
- Attend recurring meetings with different departments. Consider the activities of different departments and how additional or existing research can help support them.
- Attend recurring meetings with marketing agencies and data suppliers. Review analysis and reporting produced by these agencies and other partners. Engage with agencies and suppliers to enhance shared intelligence by probing details of their work and proposing additional research.
Qualifications
- Education – bachelor’s degree in business, Data Science, marketing analytics, or related field
- Work Experience – minimum of one year of work experience or related research internship experience in a business environment
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (industry & professional)
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills for a business setting, able to generally assess the appropriateness of various research approaches (e.g., sampling approaches, survey questions and focus group designs), evaluate the accuracy of the results and synthesize findings into actionable insights
- Ability to translate data into clear, written summaries, visualizations and presentations
- Experience analyzing digital marketing performance, such as web analytics, advertising analytics, social media metrics, and SEO metrics
- Knowledge of tourism, hospitality, or destination marketing industry metrics (e.g., occupancy, RevPAR) is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
- Computer Skills
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience leveraging AI assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to aid with producing accurate and insightful analysis
- Ability to quickly learn new software and tools
- Basic knowledge of and ability to develop skills with Tableau
