Empowered Cooks is a fast-growing, YouTube-led kitchen brand built by Cathy Yoder, a trusted voice for millions of home cooks. With over 60,000 cookbooks sold, Cathy has helped families around the world make life simpler, healthier, and cleaner in the kitchen—without sacrificing joy, flavor, or fun.
We create premium tools and content that help people feel confident in the kitchen—from bestselling air fryer accessories to cookbooks to our next line of beautifully designed products.
We’re looking for a creative, thoughtful Junior Product Designer to join us part-time as we expand our product line. This is an opportunity to help design health-conscious kitchen tools and experiences today, with an eye toward shaping larger appliances and systems in the future.
This role is ideal for a current design student or recent graduate who’s passionate about product design, cooking, and building a healthier, more intentional way of living through the tools we use every day.
🎨 What Makes This Role Special
You won’t just design one-off products—you’ll help set the visual and functional tone for everything we make. From form language to finishes, materials to packaging, you’ll play a key role in building a consistent and recognizable design language for all of Empowered Cooks’ physical products.
🔧 What You’ll Do
- Assist in the design and development of new kitchen tools (cutting boards, tongs, towels, etc.)
- Research and source safer, more sustainable materials (free of harmful chemicals like PFAs)
- Sketch, prototype, and iterate on physical product ideas
- Define and evolve our brand’s physical aesthetic across all products—from small tools to future appliances
- Collaborate with our founder and manufacturing partners to bring products to life
- Think ahead: help explore the concept and user experience of a next-generation air fryer
- Contribute to packaging, unboxing, and the full product experience
- Participate in long-term concept development for larger, more integrated kitchen systems
✅ What We’re Looking For
- A student or recent graduate in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
- A strong portfolio with physical product design work (class projects welcome!)
- Passion for health, sustainability, cooking, and intentional living
- Curiosity, creativity, and a proactive attitude
- Ability to collaborate remotely, communicate ideas clearly, and take ownership of your work
