Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and Gauge Engineer specialized in Injection Molding to join our dynamic manufacturing team. Responsibilities
- Develop, interpret, and apply GD&T standards to ensure the dimensional accuracy of injection-molded parts, facilitating clear communication between design, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Design, calibrate, and validate gauges and measurement systems to verify part tolerances in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Perform root cause analysis on dimensional issues or non-conformities identified during production or inspection processes, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, and Schematics to create detailed drawings for gauges, fixtures, and tooling components.
- Program and troubleshoot industrial equipment including CNC machines, robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision inspection systems, and CAM software to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with process engineers to develop and refine injection molding procedures that enhance part quality while minimizing cycle times and waste.
- Conduct factory audits and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of production workflows.
- Support manufacturing teams by providing technical guidance on assembly line setups, tooling design, fabrication processes, welding techniques, and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of schematics, process parameters, calibration records, and quality reports in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Lead projects related to process engineering enhancements or tooling upgrades that improve efficiency or product quality within the manufacturing facility.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of GD&T principles for precise measurement and communication of part tolerances.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, and CAM programming tools for designing gauges and fixtures.
- Experience with plastics injection molding processes from a manufacturing or industrial engineering perspective.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming, robot programming, CNC machining operations, welding techniques, fabrication methods, and tooling design.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies to address dimensional or process issues effectively.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision inspection systems, industrial equipment troubleshooting, schematics interpretation, and factory automation.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at optimizing workflows and reducing waste through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly lines, industrial equipment maintenance, fabrication techniques, mechanical engineering concepts, and factory safety protocols.
- Experience working within a manufacturing facility environment with a focus on quality assurance standards such as ISO 9001.
- Strong project scheduling skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
