Baltic Food Distributing is a importer and distributor of specialty food and beverage products across Illinois and the Midwest. We supply independent liquor stores, grocery retailers, bars, restaurants, and specialty markets with high-quality imported foods, wines, and spirits. We are expanding and seeking a motivated Sales Representative to support growth across multiple channels.
Position Summary
We are looking for an energetic, self-driven Sales Representative to manage a mixed territory of liquor stores, grocery stores, bars, and restaurants. This role combines maintaining existing customer relationships with aggressive new business development and cold prospecting.
You will spend most of your time in the field visiting accounts, building relationships, introducing new products, improving shelf placement, and driving weekly & monthly sales growth. A personal vehicle is required for daily travel.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management
- Visit existing liquor, grocery, bar, and restaurant accounts regularly
- Maintain strong relationships with store owners, managers, and buyers
- Ensure proper stock levels, rotation, shelf presence, and merchandising
- Present new products, limited releases, monthly programs, and seasonal items
- Troubleshoot service issues (deliveries, pricing, returns, credits)
New Business Development
- Cold prospecting to open new liquor stores, bars, & restaurants
- Identify and pitch new placement opportunities within current accounts
- Conduct menu placement conversations with restaurants and bar managers
- Drive distribution of priority items and new portfolio additions
In-Store Execution
- Secure additional facings, displays, and off-shelf placements
- Support in-store tastings, product demos, and brand activations when needed
- Ensure compliance with pricing, brand standards, and promotional programs
Sales Reporting & Planning
- Hit assigned weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets
- Track activity using company CRM tools (store visits, opportunities, notes)
- Provide weekly recaps on sales progress, competitive insights, and market feedback
- Stay current with product knowledge, pricing, promotions, and inventory
Requirements
- Must have your own vehicle suitable for daily local travel (mileage reimbursed)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Able to cold prospect and open new accounts consistently
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a daily route independently
- Prior experience in beverage, wine/spirits, CPG, grocery, or distribution sales is a plus
- Must be able to lift 20–40 lbs when handling samples or displays
