The Design to Manufacturing (DtM) Engineer within North America VPE GAPE (Vehicle Process Engineering, General Assembly Process Engineering) is part of the DFWE Team (DtM, Fastener, and Workstation Engineering Team). This DtM Engineer is responsible for collaborating with key manufacturing and product engineering stakeholders to set DtM KPIs targets for future model programs and identify and implement DtM initiatives upfront. The Engineer will conduct DtM Optimization Workshops and Design Reviews with product engineering, the VPE Execution Team, the plant, and the MLM (Material Logistics Management) for DtM target attainments. The engineer's regular activities include extensive competitive benchmarking, vehicle physical and virtual teardown, math model analysis, technical alternatives pros and cons, and EST (Engineering Standard Time) impact on manufacturing process for all North American assembly plants. This includes extensive work on fastener optimization, fastener reductions, fastener complexity reductions, fastener 400 category compliance, APOQUA standard joints analysis, etc for new programs. The person in this position will be expected to effectively communicate with people at different functions and at different levels.
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience required, with knowledge of manufacturing and plant operations
- Strong knowledge of EST (Engineering Standard Time) and manufacturing processes with a focus on General Assembly (GA)
- Industrial engineering knowledge and workstation processing
- Knowledge in Fastener Engineering
- Strong skills to perform benchmarking studies
- Strong written and verbal communications skills a must
- Extremely proficient with TeamCenter and Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong organizational/project management skills
- Strong knowledge of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly)
- Self-motivated and able to successfully achieve results under time pressure
- Must have the ability to work with all levels of management and engineering while establishing and maintaining lines of communication
- Superior teamwork and leadership skills required as well as the ability to handle multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in engineering and industrial engineering
- Advanced degree
- Vehicle assembly plant experience and/or vehicle launch experience
- Knowledge and Usage on A2Mac1 and CareSoft Iceberg
- Experience with EST (Engineering Standard Time) and HPV (Hours per Vehicle), especially vehicle EST teardown experiences
